Over the Rainbow June 2006, The Scripps Performing Arts Company premiered a new production called Over the Rainbow! Over the Rainbow is an original contemporary ballet that explores the emotional realm of what we find when we journey Over the Rainbow. Familiar fairy tale characters will inspire audiences to follow their hearts and live their dreams. This captivating performance included an inspiring narration and many styles of dance including ballet, tap and jazz. The familiar characters that one may find in The Wizard of Oz made choreographed appearances enhanced by Giant Trees and delicious dancing apples...and that was only the beginning! This Original Contemporary Ballet was performed again in June 2007.
Our Favorite Ballets In Early January, the Scripps Performing Arts Company decided to involve the SPAA students in the selection process for theUpper-Division Ballet Performance of Our Favorite Ballets. Through a poll on this website, students, families, friends, and fans selected which of several ballets were their favorites. Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, Paquita, and Coppelia won out and were performed by our Level V-VII students in June of 2007. This production is likely to become a repertoire staple of the Company. |
